Lab rat.

Part of being a cancer patient means that you are asked if you would like to participate in clinical trials.  The benefits of being in clinical trials is that you get your normal treatment and then on top of that whatever extra treatments they are using in the trials.  Sometimes it’s just extra blood work and sometimes it’s extra scans.  Below was a PET Scan – I got my own room for the day, and I had radioactive material injected into me via intravenous.

A PET scan is a nuclear medicine imaging test that uses a form of radioactive sugar to create images of body function and metabolism. PET imaging can be used to evaluate normal and abnormal biological function of cells and organs.
